Baby Nursery
Our Baby Nursery is a bright and beautiful self-contained part of the setting with a spacious Playroom, that has both underfloor heating and air conditioning.
Folding doors open out on to a fully enclosed outdoor play area which has an electric awning to protect the babies from the harmful rays of the sun.
The spacious playroom leads through to a separate Activity Room with ‘Baby Gym’ and on through to the peaceful ‘Beatrix Potter’ themed Sleep Room.
Our Baby Department is run very professionally by a highly qualified and experienced team, who maintain high standards of hygiene and provide first class individual care to each child.
JOINING THE BABY NURSERY
BUMPS AND BABES: Each Friday we host Bumps and Babes for those considering joining our Nursery. Sam, our Baby Room Leader, will welcome you in as you get to know the staff and the other children.
SETTLING: We take pride in our Settling process at Oak House. No one settle is the same – every child and parent is different! Families are invited to take their time while setting – getting to know the team and the environment, before slowly withdrawing to have a drink in the Staff Room, while we see how your child is doing without you. Settles under two hours, accompanied by parents, are free of charge. Once you leave your child unaccompanied at nursery for two hour or more, settles are charged on a pro-rata basis.
CAR SEATS: Unfortunately we are not blessed with a lot of spare storage space, and we therefore request that parents do not leave car seats unless absolutely necessary.
COMFORT OBJECTS: Young babies settling often requires Comforter – you are more than welcome to bring in a special teddy etc (named is always preferable!). If your child has a dummy, you are required to bring in a named Dummy Pot – as we do endeavour to ensure dummies are only used as comfort objects, and do not remain with the child when they do not need it.
HAIR CLIPS AND DECORATIONS: It’s amazing how quickly some children’s hair grows, and we appreciate the need for clips to maintain unruly locks, however do bear in mind these could be a choking hazard in the Baby Nursery. Please ensure hair accessories are used for practical purposes and not simply for decoration.
MULTI-SENSORY ROOM: Our Babies spend lots of time in our fantastic Sensory room offers four special corner areas; a large Bubble Tube where the children can change the colours and be mesmerised by the beautiful bubbles and fish swimming up and down the tube; a dark curtained corner with a Ultra Violet strip light, and a wealth of UV responsive materials to fascinate the children and captivate their imagination; a Black, White and Red Corner provides a cozy area for resting, playing with the contrasting black and white materials and books; and a Fibre Optic Colour Changing Curtain with a wealth of exciting resources to explore and investigate.
The centre of the room provides an excellent ‘Circle Time’ rug where groups of all ages can come together to explore resources, listen to stories or sing songs.
The room is also equipped with other auditory and sensorial resources including an Acoustic Wall and Light Table.
