Toddler Nursery

Our Toddler Nursery is a busy and vibrant part of the setting, on the ground floor of the Main House.

Toddlers enjoy the reassurance of being with their own Key Carers in their base Playroom whilst benefiting from ‘free flow’ into the Garden, enabling them to explore an extensive range of exciting activities and having heaps of fun! They can also access the upstairs Quiet Room – for daytime sleeps and to enjoy more peaceful, focused activities, such as Heuristic Play or small-group music sessions. The Toddlers enjoy little nature walks around the Village in the nursery’s two six seater ‘buses to learn about the changing seasons.

MOVING TO THE TODDLER NURSERY: What is new?

TWO-YEAR CHECK: The Integrated Review forms part of the ‘Healthy Child Programme’, done in conjunction with your child’s Health Visitor. We will invite you in to have a meeting as we go through their Two-Year Development Check, and once we are all happy with you, you can take a copy with you when you meet your Health Visitor. If your child attends another setting, we shall be sure to do this Development Check in conjunction with them too.

TOILET TRAINING: We will work closely with you as soon as your child shows any interest in toilet training and like to liaise regularly to keep in touch with how things are progressing.

REST AND SLEEP: Toddler children are welcome to remain sleeping in the Bunk Cots of Tiny Tots for as long as they wish if still having a daytime rest in the morning.  All children enjoy a period of Quiet Time after lunch – even those who do not sleep, for we are aware that Nursery is an extremely stimulating place.  Children ascend the stairs to our warm, carpeted Quiet Room, where they choose a pillow and snuggle up.  They watch an approved DVD for 15 minutes, before this is switched off and changed to soothing music.  When they are ready to wake, children are offered a drink of water and time to re-engage, before heading outside for some fresh air.

SPECIAL EVENTS: Toddler Children enjoy Christmas and Spring parties, and showcase their physical development through Sports Day in the Summer term.
